What are the consequences of drinking chlorinated water?
A number of known carcinogens are commonly found in drinking water as a direct consequence of chlorination, the long established public health practice of using chlorine as a disinfecting agent. Many of these carcinogens are cancer causing. In fact, there is a high incidence of cancer of the esophagus, rectum, breast, and larynx, as well as Hodgkin's Disease, among those that drink chlorinated surface waters.
